Thank you for agreeing to serve as a moderator at the ACR/ARHP Annual Meeting. Your important role is to facilitate the session, set the atmosphere and keep the session on schedule.
You must complete a speaker agreement to confirm your participation.
Final instructions will be emailed to you in October. Biographical sketches and photos will be included for the speakers in your session(s), unless your session is an abstract session – abstract presenters should be introduced by the title of their abstract only.

- First, visit the registration area to pick up your badge and meeting materials and then the Speaker Ready Room to collect a moderator ribbon.
- Fifteen minutes prior to the session start time, arrive at the session room and introduce yourself to the speaker/s (usually seated on or near the stage).
- Verify each speaker's introduction bio and how they would like to conduct questions and answers during their talk. (NOTE: This is not applicable to abstract oral presenters.)
- Remind speakers/presenters to verbally announce any disclosure updates - speakers/presenters have been instructed to include their final disclosure statement on the second slide of their presentation.
- Emphasize to speakers/presenters the importance of staying within the allotted talk time.
- Five minutes prior to the session, if necessary, help to manage the room flow by encouraging attendees to be seated.
- If the room begins to fill, instruct attendees to move forward and fill rows where seating may be available.
- Attendees may not sit in the aisles as it is a fire hazard.
- At the published session start time, start the session by welcoming attendees
- Remind attendees all cell phones, pagers and other electronic devices should be operated in silent/vibrate mode.
- Provide a brief introduction of the session including the session title.
- Introduce each speaker/presenter prior to their talk.
- Ensure the presentations stay within the allotted time.
- Facilitate the question and answer period at the end of each session or talk.
- Have one or two questions prepared to engage the audience.
- Ask the attendees to identify themselves and any relevant affiliations prior to asking their question.
- Notify your room attendant immediately of any unmanageable disruptive behavior. (NOTE: A room attendant will be stationed outside of your door to track attendance and help monitor room overcrowding.)
- At the conclusion of the session, remind attendees to submit their evaluation of the session online in My Annual Meeting.
